We went out for a meal to celebrate Kathy's birthday, then met up with most of the Music, Dance, and Sound Recording departments to take all the new fresher's on and get them drunk on a pub crawl around Guildford.

For Ben's birthday we refound our lost youth in a day out at Legoland, Windsor.

Fresher's Fayre was held outside around the PATS building, we were signing up people for Big Band and Wind Band.

Vic and Ben, Kathy, Rowan and I escaped from Guildford for the afternoon for a walk on the North Down's way.

I spent the summer in Edinburgh working on BBC Radio's coverage of the Edinburgh International Festival.

Vic and Ben came up from his caravan near Dumfries for the weekend.

I spent a fab weekend up at Balado airfield near Kinross, crewing the Radio 1 live broadcasts from Scotland's biggest Rock festival. A hectic weekend working, but got to see some fab bands as well! Thanks to Matt Parkin who found more time to take photos than I did!

I went up to Orkney to record four concerts for BBC Radio 3, as part of their Lunchtime Concert series. After the recordings, I stayed in Stromness for a few days, scuba diving in Scapa Flow. Thanks to Matt Parkin for some of the photos.

Belle and Sebastian hosted a free gig in Glasgow's Botanic Gardens, featuring Camera Obscura, the Trashcan Sinatras, Vtwin, Mother and the Adicts as well as B&S themselves. The gorgeous weather brought a massive crowd, and BBC scotland were there to record the afternoon for Radio Scotland and Radio 1.

We were recording the main stage on 3rd June, as well as broadcasting our Radio1 show live from backstage. A fun, if rather busy couple of days! At least it stayed dry!

Mum and Dad brought Nan up for a week's holiday, visiting family. They came up via Glasgow, then I joined them in Aviemore for a few days before shooting back down to Glasgow again in time for Download. We took the funicular railway up Cairngorm Mountain in surprisingly good weather, then went 4x4 driving in the more normal drizzling rain.

We dived over to Millport for a day, to interview the organist of the Cathedral of the Isles, and prepare a feature on the rededication of their organ.

We recorded a special show from the launch party of the Glasgow Jazaz Festival, featuring Clare Martin. At the festival we recorded the Alex Wilson Band playing on the outdoor stage in George Square. The crowd seemed to enjoy the salsa and latin jazz, despite being slightly dampened by the weather.

We travelled to Enniskillen in Northern Ireland to broadcast a live Jazz Lineup on Radio 3, from the Ardhowen theatre. Julian Joseph presented.

Jazz Line-Up recorded a gig by the Scottish Jazz All Stars for Radio3 on the beautiful island of Arran, off the coast of Scotland.

At the 2003 Edinburgh Festival we recorded Scottish Opera's Ring for Opera on 3. Matt Parkin and Steve Rinker balanced, and came up with some very innovative miking techniques...but enough techie talk...!

Me, and Zoe went back to Guildford to sort out our house with the landlord, and then went to Farnham with Dave Gould, Sarah Garlick, and Mark Richardson, and played frisbee in the park!
